Job Opportunity Children and Family Support Worker (Direct Provision)

The logo of the Jesuit Refugee ServiceJRS Ireland is now seeking to recruit for the role of Children and Family Support Worker (Direct Provision).  This is a 10 month part time role (20 hours a week) based in Dublin.

Job Description  

The primary role of the Children and Family Support Worker will be to support the delivery of direct services for children and families residing in direct provision accommodation or seeking asylum in Ireland.  Responsibilities will include:  

  • Implementing projects and services that support children and families that address existing and emerging needs
  • Assisting with the organisation and delivery of JRS Ireland homework clubs in direct provision accommodation centres
  • Supporting children and families in Direct Provision based on identified needs
  • Working with Project Officer in the development and delivery of projects and services
  • Linking children and families with voluntary and statutory service providers as required
  • Assisting with the organisation and delivery of intercultural activities
  • Assisting with the organisation and production of intercultural publications
  • Providing support to the Policy & Advocacy Officer and National Director as required
  • Maintaining financial and administrative records
  • Supporting the smooth running of the JRS Ireland offices

Skills & Qualifications

The successful candidate will have:

  • An interest in asylum, integration and diversity issues
  • A relevant educational or childcare qualification
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office
  • Fluency in English
  • Motivation and a desire to learn on an on-going basis
  • Commitment to social justice and the JRS Mission ‘to accompany, to serve and to advocate the cause of refugees and forcibly displaced persons’

Job Level: This is an entry level position and is remunerated accordingly.
