JRS Ireland Summer Programme 2017

Children posing for photo at Glenroe Farm as part of JRS Ireland's Summer Programme. With the JRS Ireland Summer Programme finishing for another year, we would like to say a special thank you to IMPACT, Dublin City Council, CDYSB and the Jesuit Province for the continued support of children and families living in Direct Provision.

The JRS Ireland Summer Programme is designed to improve the health and wellbeing of children living in the Direct Provision accommodation system in Dublin, through a range of activities that offer the opportunity for play, integration and development of social skills outside an institutionalised environment.

Children, aged 4-12 and living in Direct Provision accommodation, were the primary beneficiaries of this year’s programme.  In addition and as a result of the negative impact of living long term in Direct Provision accommodation, the families of participating children continued to be served as a secondary priority. Due to the nature of the activities, local communities also derived value from elements of the programme.

The following range of activities were provided during this year's programme: Family excursions to the Velvet Strand (Portmarnock); Family BBQ; Day trip to Clara Lara Adventure Park; Day trip to Glenroe Farm; On-site Family Fun Day with children’s entertainer and magician; Bowling and Soft Play; Cinema trips.

Finally, THANK YOU to all the children and families who took part.
